Lehar: "Dein ist mein ganzes Herz" sung by Jonas Kaufmann. This was the 4th encore of his concert in Berlin on January 19, 2009. The video is kind of a co-production :-). A friend did a very loooong lasting photo and I replaced the sound, which was of course not in the best quality, with a very good in-house recording from another friend. It may be slightly of sync, but not much.

This may be my absolute favorite Vogliatemi Bene on record. Gheorgiu is in the stratosphere here and the virility of Kaufmann’s singing is unmatched; the power, artistry and build up are sensational. Bravo to Pappano as well for leading such a magnificent performance. Worthy or surpassing the great historical performances. This performance makes all other banal life pursuits seem incredibly secondary.

Better late to opera than never and this is yet another celestial performance to have stumbled upon - ah...who would have thought the great Pappano, orchestra, and these two beautiful singing beings could ascend to these divine heights! It has been a revelation, too, to encounter utter emotional conviction in opera and this is never less than startlingly true of the great acting, as well as singing, of the irreplaceable Jonas Kaufmann.
How the heck does he sing upside down! Lol
It's 2024 - this dedicated actor, singer, intellect, witty and complete gentleman is still incandescent!
